• Do you ever cry when the feeling you are feeling is one of anger?

• Do you ever show aggression, when what you are feeling is sadness?  Or feel tired when you are really feeling angry?

Human beings are not robots.  We experience emotions, feel our feelings and can get stuck in closed loop systems where we are creating our own reality, based on inauthentic feelings and manipulating the world to give us what we expect.  Even when what we expect is uncomfortable, embarrassing, undermining or downright miserable.

We learn from the big people in our lives what emotions are acceptable and which ones are not acceptable in our family.  We learn to mask our real feelings in order to fit in.

Just think how great it would be if we could understand this process, and then break out of this negative cycle!  This workshop will show you how.

Aims and intentions

During this workshop, we aim to connect or reconnect with the Racket System in order to understand how we keep ourselves stuck in a loop of helplessness, with feelings of worthlessness which simply feed into our helplessness ........

We examine core beliefs, and link to other TA concepts in order to help us shed light on this self-sabotaging behaviour.  It may be that we feel we always need to be helpful, putting the needs of others before ourselves and then feel let-down when they make it clear they do not want or need our help.  Or we may tell ourselves we are uselessly shy, so we behave in a shy way in groups giving off a vibe of 'do not talk to me' and so when people do not approach us, we can say it is because I am useless.  Oh dear .....

We explore The Racket System: core beliefs, actions, reinforcements and learn how to breakthrough and wake up from the self-induced trance!

The workshop

All the workshops on the TA Practitioner programme are conducted online.

Participants receive a comprehensive workshop paper prior to the workshop, in order for them to read and reflect on the TA subjects which will be discussed online.  This means that the brain is already making connections even before the workshop takes place!

The five hour workshops will then provide an opportunity for discussion of the theory, time to ask questions, make links, work on activities to stimulate thinking and to work out the ways in which to apply the learning to your professional practice, or your own personal development.

Lynda Tongue is a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in the organisational field.  She qualified at this level in 2013, and has delivered workshops from Nashville to St Petersberg.  She is passionate about sharing the concepts of Transactional Analysis with coaches, trainers, teachers, consultants - anybody who has an interest in helping others and personal development.
