Organisational Structures

Introduction

The tutorial titles are a guide - Lynda will ask you for your specific objectives.
The structure of an organisation affects the dynamics of the process, the way the teams and departments communicate and work together.

In 1963 Eric Berne published his book 'Structures and Dynamics of Organisations and Groups'.  The rather idiosyncratic approach of using a group attending a seance to describe psychological processes may be off-putting to modern organisational consultants, leaders and developers - but there are gems in his work for those determined enough to dig for them.

In this tutorial, we cover organisational structures and analyse where the issues are with our clients.

Possible objectives:
  • develop competence in analysing a range of organisational structures
  • understand how leadership hierarchy forms boundaries - senior teams from first time leaders etc
  • explore how the games which might develop at the boundaries between departments may be affecting an organisation you know
