Stages of Group Development
“Any mental picture, conscious, preconscious or unconscious, of what a group is or should be like”
Berne (1963) Some teams go through a process of development really quickly, reaching a place where the members are functioning well, communication is smooth and their purpose is being achieved.
Other teams get stuck and do not reach that place at all. Think about the teams you are in at the moment - which are flying, and which are bogged down ..... and why?

Leadership is a Relational Issue
No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it
Andrew Carnegie Leaders hold the keys to performance and play a vital role in any organisation. They often get in their own way of success by not realising the impact they are having on others. They do not realise the affect they are having - and how that reflects on themselves.
As a leader how approachable are you? As a leadership coach or trainer how do you analyse a person's impact, and how do you help someone make changes?

Analysing Organisations
"… the more all parties share a common understanding of the process, the fewer problems are likely to develop"
Hay (2000) How do the organisations you work with (or in) match up to the mission and vision statement displayed on the Reception wall? Where are people physically located? What is the structure like and how does that affect the dynamics of an organisation?
What questions do you ask to find out about what drives the organisation and what is going on around here?
